Many Wisconsin cheese factories make curds daily. Door County has only one cheese factory, Renard's Dairy, but there are two outlets, one on each of the main roads to Sturgeon Bay. Both stores carry a wide variety of other cheeses, sausage and wines and the usual tourist bric-a-brac. Be sure to stop as you drive into or out of Door County -- but check the store hours first: Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM, Sat 8AM-3PM; NOT open on Sundays.

Renard's Cloverleaf Dairy Highway 57 - north of Brussels and 7 miles south of Sturgeon Bay on the west side of the road. State laws are very restrictive and do not allow billboards where the traveler could most use them, so it's easy to pass the nondescript store before you know it. Look for the giant mouse in front or near the side door. (920) 825-7272 |
